Within this book are printed the stories gathered and told over the years during The Spirit Tour, a spectral walking excursion through the streets of Abingdon's historic district. The placement of the stories in this book follows the circular path of the tour. In telling these ghost stories, I, the Haint Mistress of Abingdon, have taken care to present the authentic history of our town for the readers, but some legends make their way into the narrative as well. I leave it up to you to believe what you will. If nothing else, merely employ this small book as an enjoyable diversion describing one of Virginia's most beautiful small towns: Abingdon.
